Solar power

Solar power is energy derived from the sun's light or heat. Usually this refers to solar electricity, Solar energy can also be converted into kinetic energy (i.e. solar pump), or stored as heat for later use, or for cooking.Solar power is fairly reliable, however it is diminished when the weather is cloudy. Solar power and wind power combine well together, as it is often cloudy and windy at the same time, so when the solar power is reduced, the wind power can take up the slack. Solar power is especially useful in deserts.
Most solar power is converted to electricity via photovoltaic cells, however, solar thermal converts the sun's heat into electricity via a steam turbine, and this may be more efficient in some cases.
