HCEC's objectives (long-winded mission statement) are

1. To maintain a community environment information, resource and advocacy centre.
2. To educate and inform the community about biodiversity and the need to protect it.
3. To provide and promote the dissemination of information and views regarding environmental matters.
4. To promote and assist co-operation, sharing of resources and co-ordination of activities amongst environment and community groups.
