CRC for Coal in sustainable development
From Envirowiki
The Cooperative Research Centre for Coal in Sustainable Development (CCSD) is an Australian body that researches methods to continue to use coal when the general populace is beginning to worry and demand action on environmental problems such as climate change and those caused by mining.
it works on technologies such as geosequestration, which, if they worked (and they don't yet, and may never be entirely suitable), would allow the continued burning of coal, with reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
[edit] 1 membership
the CCSD are a co-operation between numerous, including the ACARP and a number of energy suppliers, the CSIRO, a number of australian universities, and the Queensland government's Department of Natural Resources and Mines.
[edit] 2 research
the CCSD, as a part of their research into coal have found that renewable energy CAN supply the entirety of asutralia's energy requirements, through the use of solar thermal
