$4bn to build new 1000MegaWatt coal fired power station around Lithgow or Hunter valley in New South Wales. That equates to 2 million solar hot water systems at $2000 and would have a similiar effect of maintaining the supply and demand differential but by reducing demand not by increasing supply. demand reduction strategies coupled with renewable energy supply investments is possible unfortunately cheap abundant coal reserves creating money for some is difficult to overcome.
