Al Gore - in his own words "America's former next president." he is now apparently an strong environmentalist, having recently released his film about climate change "An Inconvenient Truth."

Gore's main campaign at the moment is Climate Change, and he seems to be very well informed on the topic, and is apparently not doing it for political gain. Gore has been working on, or involved in climate science and action sinc the 1970s.
the Competitive enterprise institute, in ractions to "An inconvenient truth" has pointed out that Gore flies a lot, thus being hypocritical. While this is true, Gore also realises this, an buys carbon offsets everytime he flies. obvioulsy carbon offsets are not a true way of decreasing carbon being injected in the biosphere (although they may in the atmosphere), but Gore's actions are much less hypocritical, and down-right illogical than the CEI's own: producing pro carbon ads, then blaming gore for producing carbon.
